Why should I Go Solar?
Well, that’s technically up to you, but the majority of homeowners and industrialist choose to go solar for the electricity bill savings. While this might be the initial attraction of going solar, many homeowners and industrialist don’t realize that solar also allows you to control your power bill as well as increase your property value.
In Pakistan, solar owners can even get paid for excess energy that their panels produce!
What are the financial benefits of solar energy?
When you install a solar energy system on your property, you save money on your electricity bills and protect yourself against rising electricity rates in the future. How much you can save depends on the utility rates and solar policies in your area, but going solar is a smart investment regardless of where you live.
What is net metering?
Net metering is an electric billing tool that uses the electric grid to store excess energy produced by your solar panel system. Under net metering, energy your solar panels produce, and you don’t use, is credited back to you. On a cloudy or rainy day when your panels aren’t producing enough energy, the utility grid will feed your home energy, and count that energy against the credits you’ve banked over time. As a solar customer, you will only be billed for your “net” energy usage. Also known as net energy metering or NEM, net metering is the solar industry’s foundational policy.
How does solar impact my property values?
Studies have shown that homes with solar energy systems sell for more than homes without them. However, your property value will only increase if you own, rather than lease, your solar panel system. In most parts of the country, going solar will actually increase your property value more than a kitchen renovation.
How long will my solar power system last?
In general, solar panels are very durable and capable of withstanding snow, wind, and hail. The various components of your solar power system will need to be replaced at different times, but your system should continue to generate electricity for 25 to 35 years.
How much money will I save with solar?
There is no definite way to explain this, since solar is a long-term investment plan that will keep on profiting you for the next 20-30 years. Another reason is that solar panels do not benefit you in only one way, so explaining it based on one aspect is unfair. The basic rule of saving is, “the more you generate, the less grid electricity you use, the more you save.” Solar power in Pakistan has a lot of potential as compared to other cold region countries, and consumers can enjoy more advantages than those people.
